Rhode Island Senior Games (formerly Rhode Island Senior Olympics) is back and celebrating our 20 year anniversary!

General Information

Eligibility

All athletes must be 50 years old by December 31 of the competition year. The athlete’s competition age will be based on his/her age on December 31 of the competition year.

Age Categories

Participants will compete in one of the following age categories for both individual and doubles sports: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99. Team sports are divided into the following brackets: 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+, and 80+. Your age group is determined by your age on December 31. Partner and team age groups will be determined by the age of the youngest partner/team member.

Proof of Identification

The Rhode Island Senior Games may require its participants to provide the following documentation when participating in the Rhode Island Senior Games. 1) A valid photo identification card such as a driver’s license, passport, or green card that states the athlete’s gender, OR 2) A copy of a valid medical or health insurance policy that unequivocally states the athlete’s gender. Birth certificates shall not be acceptable. Any athletes unable to provide proof of age will be disqualified. Any team with a rostered individual who is not of minimum age, or whose age listed on the roster is incorrect and causes the team to play in the wrong age division, will be disqualified.

Rules - Decisions

All events will be conducted by both the Rhode Island Senior Games Association Official Rules and the current National Senior Games Association (NSGA) Rules. The Games Director or Assistant Director is the final authority for rules and interpretations.

Proof of Identification

A confirmation email is automatic to the email once registration is completed online and paid for.

Equipment

Participants are required to provide their equipment, except as specified per their sport.

Physical Condition

It is recommended that participants confer with their physician before this competition. It is also recommended that participants prepare for competition and train accordingly.

How many Sports and/or Events can I enter?

As long as events are not held at conflicting times, athletes may enter as many events as they desire. Scheduling cannot be done to accommodate other events. Athletes must be a member of a team to enter the team events.

Doubles Events

Participants must have a partner to enter doubles events. Athletes may compete with only one partner per event. Both partners must register and pay registration fees. When registering online you must spell your partner’s name correctly and enter your partner’s birth year.

Team Sports

Team Captains are responsible for submitting the team roster, team fee, and individual member registration information forms together. Teams must submit the completed information to the team captain who in turn submits the team roster, enclosing all completed forms and fees.

Fees

All registration is ONLINE using a credit card for payment. ENTRY FEES and EVENT FEES must be paid in full and must accompany the entry form. Forms received without the appropriate fees WILL NOT be processed. It is the responsibility of the team captain to send in team fees, roster, and the team member’s information together.

Event Policy/Event Cancellation or Postponements

No refund will be made if an entrant fails to compete. In the event of inclement weather or unsafe conditions, or conditions beyond RISG control, Senior Games staff and officials reserve the right to cancel, reschedule, or postpone outdoor events. Due to costs that must be incurred by the RI Senior Games, no refund will be given under the circumstances stated above.

T-shirt Pick-up

T-shirt pick-up will be at the events during check-in. Only 1 t-shirt per athlete, even though you may be in a multitude of events.

Medals

Medals will be awarded to first, second, and third place finalists at the end of each event.

Results

Results will be posted on the Rhode Island Senior Games website www.riseniorgames.org/results within a month of your event.
